Set-up and other fees
We do not charge Users a set-up fee. Our only remuneration as a platform provider and marketplace host is our commission and a small facilitation fee for providing the Readerama protection service and claims process.
We may also charge the Bookseller fees for handling refunds and shall be entitled to reclaim any costs incurred due to a Bookseller not being able to fulfil an order. These charges shall be in addition to the facilitation fee.
What we pay you for books sold on the Readerama Sites
We will pay you the sums received by us from Bookbuyers for your books, less:
You must fully comply with your tax obligations in connection with the use of our services and the offer and sale of your books on the Readerama Sites including the collection, reporting, filing and payment of any and all applicable taxes and other governmental assessments.
When we pay you
Once delivery is confirmed and 48 hours have passed without any issues reported by the Bookbuyer, Stripe will send you a statement of the sums due to you and how they have been calculated and credit such sums to your Stripe account. Please allow up to 14 days for the money to appear.
How you can withdraw your funds
At checkout, Stripe processes payment. Funds are allocated to the Bookseller’s connected Stripe account balance. Subject to the Minimum Withdrawal Amount requirement, at the Bookseller’s request Readerama will, as agent for the Bookseller, effect the payout release.
When you must pay any fees due
You, the Bookseller, will be provided a Bookseller statement balance through your Stripe Account. You must log into your Stripe Account to be able to see the statements. You must pay any sums due to us within 14 days of notification, save that we may deduct our commission out of any proceeds of sale due to you.
Interest on overdue payments
If you, the Bookseller fails to make a payment due under these terms by the due date, then, without limiting any other remedies that may be available to us, you shall pay interest on the overdue sum from the due date until payment of the overdue sum, whether before or after judgment. Interest under this clause will accrue each day at 4% a year above the Bank of England’s base rate from time to time, but at 4% a year for any period when that base rate is below 0%.
Refund Policy
The transaction between Bookseller and Bookbuyer on the Readerama Sites is one of consumer to consumer. This means that consumer protection laws relating to the right to claim a refund for a book are extremely limited. At Readerama, as part of the use of the platform, we provide a protection service to Bookbuyers (“Readerama Protection Service”), which provides a limited right for Bookbuyers to claim a refund in the following circumstances:
(1) if the book is manifestly different to the description or not usable as it is intended; (2) if the book does not arrive due to loss during transit; (3) if the book is significantly damaged during transit. In the circumstances noted in (2) and (3) there may be a claim against the courier. Please refer to the chosen courier terms and conditions in the first instance. Our shipping partner Sendcloud facilitates the Readerama postage options. You can find the Terms and Conditions for InPost and Evri on the Sendcloud website. If you are unsure whether your circumstances allow for a refund please refer to the information page here or contact us at [email protected]. As part of Readerama’s policy for using the platform, all Booksellers are obliged to provide refunds in these circumstances. Readerama’s decision on any refund or dispute is final.
Bookbuyers must raise any claim within 48 hours of delivery (or within 7 days of purchase in the case of non-delivery). Bookbuyers may be required to provide reasonable evidence of non-delivery, damage or misdescription. Readerama will review claims and may, at its discretion:
Readerama’s decision on the above course of action (or otherwise) shall be final and binding.
In order to facilitate the Readerama Protection Service, we will charge a facilitation fee on each transaction. This fee covers:
The facilitation fee forms part of the platform service fee and is not a separate service fee. In addition, the Readerama Protection Service is not an insurance policy and does not constitute a regulated financial product.
If you instruct us to refund a Bookbuyer on your behalf, we will do so provided we can deduct such sums from money due from us to you. We are not obliged to refund more than the sums collected from the Bookbuyer at checkout. If we are unable to deduct such sums from money due from us to you, we may choose to refund Bookbuyers ourselves and you must pay us the sums we refund in this way. Readerama may process full or partial refunds on the Bookseller’s behalf. Before bank payout, refunds are deducted from the Bookseller’s Stripe balance. After bank payout, the Bookseller authorises Readerama/Stripe to create a negative balance and recover amounts from future payouts.
We reserve the right to charge you a fee plus VAT in respect of such any refunds we process for you.
Rights of set-off
Save as expressly provided in these terms, you and we shall each pay all amounts due under this agreement in full without any set-off, counterclaim, deduction or withholding (other than any deduction or withholding of tax as required by law).
Orders from outside Great Britain
The Readerama Sites only display information to Users in the English language, only accepts payment in pounds sterling and only permits Users to enter delivery addresses in the UK and we make this clear to customers. Despite our taking these steps, Users from outside UK may succeed in ordering your books from the Readerama Sites. Users from outside the UK may have rights under their local laws which apply as well as or instead of their rights under English, Welsh and Scottish law and our standard terms. If you (Bookseller) don’t wish to accept such orders, it is your responsibility to reject them as indicated in What you must do when we tell you about an order.
