Packing our first boxes of books for schools

The last few months have been a bit of a whirlwind.
After a long time planning, building and testing, Readerama finally launched a few weeks ago. Since then we have been fixing bugs, making improvements and, most exciting of all, watching the first books appear on the site.
Seeing those first listings go live felt like a huge milestone, and I am incredibly grateful to our first bookshops – Kika, Layla, Laura, Star O, Patsy and Cassie for their enthusiasm, support and patience as we navigate these early days.
To mark the moment, the photo for this post is of an empty box. It may seem an unusual image, but (drumroll please) this week that box will be filled with books and sent to a school.
From the beginning, Readerama was always meant to do more than help people buy and sell second hand books. The aim was to build something that supports reading more widely. So I made a promise: for every book uploaded for sale on Readerama, we will send a book to a school, up to the first 500 books.
Thanks to our first sellers, we are already making progress. So far, in addition to my books, 92 books have been uploaded, which means the first boxes for a school are now being packed.
There is still plenty to refine on the site and many more ideas to build, but it is wonderful to see Readerama starting exactly as we hoped: readers passing books on and more books finding their way into schools.
If you have already uploaded books and would like to suggest a school to receive some free books from us, I would love to hear from you. Just email [email protected].
And if you haven’t listed your books yet, now is the perfect moment to start.
This first box is just the beginning.
